Descripció
Sumari:Gerd Wotjak sets out to survey research undertaken by German linguists in the field of valency. He stresses the significance of the early doctoral theses presented by Romanists in the 1970s and notes the relatively weak resonance these found at the time compared with much other work on valency being carried out in studies of German. While drawing attention to the theoretical and methodological discoveries of the publications mentioned (a large number of roneotyped doctoral theses submitted at Leipzig and in East Berlin that have remained generally uncommented on), the article addresses several theoretical aspects that have not yet been resolved and acknowledges on the one hand the particular value of dictionaries of verb valency developed for different Romance languages, and on the other, the importance of Kotschi’s synthesis, presented in 1999, of work done in this area and which Wotjak uses as a reference point in his discussion.
