In a heterosexual context that judges and condemns, such self-experiences this quest as suffering, since he feels indifference and stigma towards himself. Thereby, the homosexual group, this alternative space of self-construction, functions as a strong identity support, allowing him to deploy strategies that serve to get around the stigma, by reinforcing a feeling of identity and personal worth. |
