Descrição
Resumo:Through the discursive analysis of documents from international institutions, this article exposes adolescent pregnancy as a particular discursive object. Documents of institutions such as the World Bank or the United Nations Population Fund addressing adolescent pregnancy are based on economic theories of rational choice that encourage the internalization of a homo economicus rationality in relation to the decision of pregnancy, where unwanted pregnancy becomes a failure of the rational subject. The absence of a fundamental factor, the desire to get pregnant, in most of the documents analyzed shows the myopic approaches of the studies, and the circulation of norms and premises assuming that institutions know better the interest of adolescent women than themselves.
