| Riassunto: | Erving Goffman’s sociology of face-to-face behavior provides conceptual tools to establish the foundations of a pragmatic sociology of conflict interactions. By its mere potentiality, conflict is a structuring element of the social order, the order of interactions, and the modes of existence of social actors. Goffman’s dramaturgical analysis of interaction frameworks and rituals revolves around the reciprocal risk of aggression. However, it does exclude physical attacks. Using his theories, we develop an “analysis grid” around the struggle for face, commitment to action, and the territorial dimension, by differentiating the concepts of fight, brawl, and total acting out. |
