| Izvleček: | The case of a young teenager who, after acting out in a spectacular fashion, described himself as “oppressed” by the division of genders, led me to examine the distinction between the process of becoming implied by the verb to “degenerate” and the apparent binary fixity of genders. I am interested in the clinical dimensions of suicidal tendencies in analysands grappling with “gender troubles” who end up opting for a transgender identity. My analysis refers to the case of the young homosexual analyzed by Freud and to my own work on trans identity as acting out. |
