要約:When at school, Oscar is so bored that he throws temper tantrums. A psychometric assessment shows an intellectual precocity that might be the cause of these symptoms. He is therefore offered types of work likely to meet his expectations, but to no avail. The failure leads to a stalemate. Oscar contemplates running away or even committing suicide to escape the boredom, which is now accompanied by growing anxiety. We meet him at this phase. The analysis of his boredom reveals an obsessional structure. It also discloses a sadistic fantasy that explains his school symptom. During the analytic treatment, we discover that he regularly resorts to various forms of sublimation. He has recently become interested a Rubik’s cube, which has resulted in reviving his desire.
