Izvleček:The French population is ageing rapidly. he trend is contrasted between territories, with a concentration of people aged 65 in rural areas. From a societal standpoint, seniors are often seen as a burden for society, whereas they can be a source of resources and engagement. In this study, we examine the collective initiatives undertaken by “active” seniors in rural areas in Auvergne, based on an analysis of 22 articles published in the daily newspaper, La Montagne. Our findings show that active seniors contribute to the transmission of knowledge, heritage and social ties, and to the defence of their rights and living territory. hese initiatives serve to boost territorial identity and social dynamics in the countryside. But they often remain invisible and unsung. his sheds light on the importance of raising awareness of these initiatives and fully acknowledging the contribution of seniors with a view to changing perceptions of ageing and fostering a more inclusive society..
