Yet, parents accepte these practices as long as they remain “reasonable”. This tolerance aims at limiting family conflicts as well as maintaining parents’ controly over their children’s education. However, grandparents can also serve as an educational resource for parents struggling to comply with nutritional injunctions.À partir d’une enquête sur l’alimentation quotidienne, menée entre 2020 et 2022 auprès de 20 familles de classes moyenne et supérieure ayant au moins un enfant scolarisé à l’école primaire, cet article interroge le rôle des grands-parents dans l’éducation alimentaire. Il en ressort une tension entre les valeurs éducatives des parents et les pratiques des grands-parents, qui utilisent l’alimentation comme un moyen de faire plaisir à leurs petits-enfants. Les parents font preuve de tolérance à l’égard de ces pratiques tant qu’elles restent dans les limites du « raisonnable », afin de limiter les conflits familiaux et de maintenir leur ascendant dans l’éducation des enfants. Les grands-parents, et plus largement la parentèle, peuvent cependant aussi servir de ressource éducative à des parents qui ont des difficultés à se conformer aux injonctions nutritionnelles.Cairn free access |
