| Riassunto: | The aim of this article is to show how the university studies of the monks contributed to the intellectual dynamism observed at Saint-Bertin during the last three centuries of the Middle Ages. In particular, it examines their influence on the monastic uses of the book. The many monks sent to Paris, Louvain, and even Cologne, to study theology or canon law took advantage of their stay at the university to acquire or copy books. They added them to the shelves of the monastic library, which was (re)built at the beginning of the fifteenth century. |
