| Gaia: | After the liberation of metropolitan France in 1944, communications resumed between the directors of the Alliance Israélite Universelle in Paris and the schools in Lebanon that had continued running in spite of both the war and then the severe economic crisis. Serious anti-Semitic acts were committed, specifically targeting the schools and their directors. There was even a terrorist attack on a building at the school in Beirut. The school director and one employee were killed. Yet the Alliance schools continued running until 1975. |
