After having been trained as a male nurse Zierke joined the “T4” office and “served” first in the “Euthanasia“ program centers before moving to the Aktion Reinhardt. By drawing on the concept of Handlungsraum the article exemplifies how Zierke acted at Belzec and Sobibor individually rather than obeying orders as argued in post war trails. The article contributes thus to an analysis of the motivation of the SS men in the Aktion Reinhardt camps.Cairn free access
