In an attempt to examine the relationship between history and memory two educational programs have been analyzed, one from 1995 the other from 2002. Since the 1980s, the genocide of the Jews has been explored at length in these textbooks, focusing mainly on the camps and on Auschwitz. In recent years, however, the issue of remembrance has grown in interest. The materials in these textbooks reflect the relationship between national collective memory and what is taught in schools.
