It also deals with contemporary problems that have an impact on teaching the subject. This study examines the role played by this journal which is at the crossroad of research, education and society, searching for knowledge and insight on what Raul Hilberg called “the destruction of European Jewry.”This long-term study has empassed the process of raising consciousness and maintaining the memory of the Holocaust in our society. This society, for the first two decades after the Holocaust, was confronted with a strange lack of official discourse. However, from the 1970s on, it experienced a revival of renewed emotions which also paved the way to historical research.Cairn free access
