Izvleček:The beatification and canonization of Edith SteinThis article examines Danielle Delmaire’s interrogation of Father Dujardin – the longtime head of Episcopal relations with Judaism – in connection with the beatification and canonization of Edith Stein who was a famous figure in the Church. Born in the Jewish faith, converted to Catholicism, arrested in the Netherlands, Stein was then deported and murdered in Auschwitz as a Jew. Through her dramatic life story one discovers the Nazi attitude towards a Jewish matter which is neither religious nor national, but rather racial i.e., based on a purely biological factor. The beatification of Edith Stein also throws light on the nature of relations between Jews and Christians after the war, including the profound and ambiguous issues involved for the Jewish world which experienced discomfort with this process of (pre-canonization).
