Résumé:Each genocide creates a new approach to temporality, whose long-term consequences are felt both on the individual and on the group level. This article deals with the consequences this new temporality has on survivors of the Tutsi genocide, such as one can identify from written testimonies and clinical interviews carried out in France with refugees who survived the genocide. The concept “life in the shadow of survival” will guide us in order to enable us to recognize the various psychological phenomena that mark this particular temporality, the main ones being the impossible mourning, the inversion of generations, genealogical disorders and overinvestment in the past.
