Résumé:History according to the defeatedHistorical revisionism of the Tutsi genocide has gone through a change in its argumentative structure in recent years under the influence of the defence at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR). The theory of “double genocide”, now abandoned, came about at the time when the Investigation Commission on the Genocide was formed in 1994, first to justify it and later to discourage the possibility of a trial. Taking advantage of real or perceived weaknesses in the international criminal justice system, the revisionists seek to rewrite history. In this paper the author analyzes a set of publications by Rwandan intellectuals —or those that present themselves as such— some of whom were or still stand on trial before the ICTR. The study of these texts highlights the continuous link between the ideologies that have presided over the genocide and its denial. Among other things, it allows us to point out the ideological and political purpose that formed the basis for this type of discourse.
