| Tóm tắt: | The new Holocaust History Museum at Yad Vashem was the culmination of a decade long redevelopment plan to prepare Yad Vashem to meet the challenges of the new century, and to effectively tell the story of the Holocaust, even as we move further away from the event in time. A team of educators, historians, researchers and curators, led by Avner Shalev, Chairman of Yad Vashem, spent years building the foundation and plans for the new Holocaust History Museum. Focusing on the individual, the Museum tells the story of the Holocaust on two, or more, levels – exploring both the historical as well as the personal dimensions. The architecture and design compliment the exhibition, working together to provide the visitor with an unforgettable experience. Using every object that the survivors and victims have left behind for us to tell their story – from art to artefacts, from testimonies to diaries and more – the Museum puts the Jewish person experiencing the Holocaust at the centre of the story. It is their voice that is heard as you walk through the Museum, their eyes that you meet in the various displays. The Holocaust is a chapter in History in which the universal values that underpin our civilization collapsed. Having experienced the Museum, it is up to each visitor, whether Prime Minister or high school student, to ensure that those values that secure our mutual existence stay strong. |
