Résumé:This article is a study of one of the novels of Aharon Appelfeld in the middle of which the protagonist is a stummering child, Kuti. The analyse is done on three different levels, a concret one, related to the historical reality, an intertextual one, dealing with the Bible and the figure of Moses, and the philosophical one whose purpose is to clarify the universal message of Appelfeld’s work and to deal with his very special poetics based on the tension between words and silence.
