| Gaia: | Between 1941 and 1944, the putting to death of almost the totality of
Lithuanian Jewry caused the extinction of the up to then, one of the most vivid
Jewish communities worldwide. This being the irreparable responsibility of the
Germans and of part of the Lithuanian population – that acted as an active and
passive accomplice to the massacres. And yet, at least half a century had to pass
in order that the historical truth should come to light and that an elementary fact
be revealed: the victims were killed because they were Jewish, and only because
they were Jewish. This denial of reality is exposed here by Henri Minczeles,
specialist of the history of the Bund and of the city of Vilna. |
