Résumé:Is it possible, with the resources social sciences offer, to resolve the thorny problem of the very singularity of Auschwitz? It would seem not. Hence the reason for having recourse to what Adorno refers to as a ‘transformed theology', allowing the Shoah to be situated in its rightful place. What is involved here is in fact the result of a project which conflicts in every detail with Creation according to Judeo-Christian thought and tradition. It is undoubtedly a project inspired by true originality, carried yet further through a certain modernist approach which we could perhaps say is reminiscent of Hobbesian perspectives as analysed since the fifties by Günther Anders, the nature of which is nowadays perceived openly in its true light: a door towards the very reshaping of the limits of this world.
