Description
Résumé:In a case study of the town of Lemberg (formerly Lvov and known today as Lviv in the Ukraine) occupied by the German army on 30 June 1941, the German historian Hannes Heer examines the early stages of the mass slaughter perpetrated against the male Jewish population and leading members of the PCUS. The author brings to light not only the key role played by the Einsatzgruppen (task forces) in this deliberately orchestrated policy of slaughter but also the role of the Ukrainian nationalists in what he refers to as the ‘stage directions for the murder of the Jews', particularly from 2 July 1941.
