| Sumari: | The similarities between the regulations of professional associations and Egyptian monastic rules have already been emphasized, but haven’t been studied in detail. This is the first purpose of this paper, which describes how the world of tradespeople may have affected the representations, the organisation and the daily life of Egyptian monks in Late Antiquity and, on the basis of the pachomian corpus, the oldest set of cenobitic rules, seeks to determine the points of similarity between the two types of regulations, which testify that professional charters may have served as a model for the preparation of the monastic rules. |
