Samenvatting:From 1939 till 1967, the Jordanian army evolved from an internal security force of 1,500 men, limited to keeping of law and order, and the leaders of which were British, to an army of 55,000 men, staffed only by Jordanians and possessing all the attributes of a modern army. This force, where the recruitment among Bedouins is important, has for supreme head the King. The loyalty to his person is of a remarkable stability, that confers the same stability on the whole country.
