| Résumé: | This paper aims to concisely describe the role of the main French officers who trained the Greek regular army during its first years, between 1821 and 1831, when the first governor of Greece, count Capodistria, was murdered. Their input in this fight, sometimes motivated by personal reasons, or as the result of concrete and organized political planning, is, without a doubt, highly valued.Similarly, their efforts at organization had a great impact on future Greek military traditions and set the foundations of the regular Army: some elements of this organization were kept during the following years and some hints of this French influence are still present today. |
