Shrnutí:The tactical military conception of mountain ranges is a reality that dates as far back as war itself. However, mountain combat as a form of warfare is a relative late-comer. Mountain disputes, or short military engagements, were certainly part of the long-lived realities of war. However, for centuries, monarchs did not risk their armies on craggy terrains, preferring combats in the open plains. Mountains were not honorable battlefields due to the very principles of war itself; as well as to the representations and discourse on the mountain. Because of the extreme difficulties of this specific terrain, it would only be during the modern era that mountain ranges would become theatres of war for armies around the world.
