| Summary: | This article examines the effects of gender awareness on the professional politicization of women farmers. Based on the observation of single-sex collectives and interviews with their participants, this article shows that the gender problematics produced by these commitments operate as a supportive form of political socialization. Not only do critical patterns of gender analysis intertwine closely with familial, marital, and professional forms of socialization, but individuals’ relationship to their minority status as women also shapes their vision (whether conflicted or not) of the agricultural profession and its trade union fault lines. |
