Résumé:This article deals with the creation of the “Marchés d’intérêt National” (min) (Wholesale Trading Centers) in France in the aftermath of the Second World War. Drawing on S. L. Kaplan’s distinction between marketplace and market principle and highlighting its heuristic significance, we show that the purpose of the min was to establish perfect competition in order to serve the national interest. French planning had thus sought to shape the regulations of the marketplace by imposing liberal principles on agricultural markets, while also contributing to the advent of the logic of distribution.
