Sumari:Just when he became world chess champion in 1972, Bobby Fischer decompensated, in a way that was reminiscent of Daniel Paul Schreber when he was appointed president of the Dresden Court of Appeal or Paul Morphy, the famous American chess player of the 19th century. The time of a victorious encounter with the designated persecuting object (immediately constituted and lost) proves to be the time of psychotic disorganization, between schizophrenia and paranoia. We examine the onset, process and origin of the illness, in which Freud’s notion of the “loss of reality” in psychosis encompasses the loss of otherness (raising the question of melancholia, as well as the type of object relationship), temporality and spatiality.
