| الملخص: | This study analyzes the evolution of the concept of editorial flair since the nineteenth century. Drawing on a corpus of textbooks and publishers, it identifies two meanings and two forms of flair—zeitgeist and discovery—both of which have been increasingly challenged since the 1980s by rationalized methods of market analysis. The study situates flair within the traditional dichotomy between art and commerce in the cultural industries, suggesting that its invocation may reflect a form of double game. |
