| Özet: | This article examines letters sent by radio listeners to musicians and hosts of programs broadcasting old-time music in the 1930s and 1940s. It situates these sources within a social history of radio and everyday musical practices. These documents allow us to look at the commercialization of radio and the commodification of music from the audience’s perspective. The article shows that those letters functioned as a commercial product through which listeners engaged with their own musical practices. It also sheds light on the market-oriented lens through which they saw music-making. |
