| Riassunto: | The discovery of the preventive function of HIV treatments some fifteen years ago has gradually revived population targeting strategies. Migrants and men who have sex with men (MSM) are among the populations among whom screening and access to treatment are being promoted in order to control the epidemic. Through a multi-site ethnography of a system designed for outreach to men seeking asylum on the grounds of sexual orientation, this article aims to study the diversity of uses made of the system and the meaning it has for users. Among other things, it enables us to study the perceptions of a scheme labelled ’LGBT+ migrant’ by the people at whom it is targeted, and how these vary according to context and life trajectory. This analysis shows that usage depends to a large extent on the economic, educational, homosocial and preventive arrangements established in the country and the way in which these affect both migration routes and survival conditions during the asylum application process once in France. |
