| Sumari: | This article, based on a qualitative survey of observations and interviews carried out in 2021 and 2022, looks at the obstacles to the health of displaced persons living in squats on the basis of their migratory, residential and administrative backgrounds, as well as the resources and strategies used by these populations to deal with these obstacles. Migration routes marked by violence and destitution are followed by reception conditions in France, with administrative obstacles and worsening poverty, as evidenced by squatter settlements. All of these intertwined aspects, intrinsic to the subjugated status of migrants, affect the physical and mental health of these populations, weakening their access to healthcare and changing their relationship to health. An analysis of an outreach health system operating in a squat makes it possible to see the logic of the processes of illegalisation, humanitarisation and racialisation involved in taking care of these populations. These processes permeate the representations and practices of those involved and are conducive in limiting access to care, while reinforcing the marginalisation of migrants in terms of healthcare. |
