Sumario:The airborne operation in September 1944 aimed at taking Arnhem was mainly planned by Montgomery, who imposed his views on Eisenhower. That it was a tactical failure stemmed from the difficulties of the Anglo-American allies in defining any coherent strategy after the Battle of Normandy. It is a recurring problem in large coalitions when matters of command enter the equation.
