Résumé:Until now, no study has been made of this portrait artist even though several of her works can be found in public collections. Even her birth and death dates were unknown. It is thanks to her portrait of the Marquise Du Châtelet in the Musée des Beaux Arts in Bordeaux, which was engraved at least three times in the second half of the 18th century, that Marie-Anne Loir was not completely forgotten. This article is an article of synthesis. It is based on unpublished archival documents in order to reconstitute the biography and artistic career of this portraitist. It also proposes information on the twelve confirmed paintings by the artist, as well as evoking several attributions that are particularly convincing.
