| Summary: | In 2014, a diagnosis carried out upstream of the extension of the automobile circuit of Nevers/Magny-Cours (Nièvre) has made it possible to rediscover one of the most important hospital complexes of the First World War: the Mars-sur-Allier Hospital Center (1917–1919). Research operations (surveys, prospecting, university studies) on the various American sites in France have contributed to the rediscovery of a vast logistics network set up by the American Expeditionary Force in its contribution to the war effort against the Central Empires from 1917. Like any archaeological discovery of the contemporary period, the sites reveal very vast movable corpuses, all materials combined, which raises many questions as to their study, management and conservation. |
