| Résumé: | We attempt to understand the relationship between cognitive science and the development of artificial intelligence. We raise the question of the influence of the computer industry and related funding on the development of cognitive science. We also question the neglect of other approaches in psychology, notably psychoanalysis. We compare the problem of the development of research into synaptic neurochemistry to the detriment of research into electrical (ephaptic) transmission in the brain. This text questions the permeability of scientific research to technological developments and financial investment, as well as the underlying ethical issues. |
