Samenvatting:The objective of this work is to take stock of the interest of psychiatry in the care of people living with HIV (PLHIV) at the Zinder National Hospital (HNZ).This was a cross-sectional study, with retro and prospective data collection, carried out over a period of 9 months from January 3 to September 30, 2023 with an established questionnaire. The study included all patients living with HIV, initiated on antiretroviral treatment with HNZ or arriving by transfer, presumed lost to follow-up between 2016 and 2022, with usable records; telephone numbers that can be reached and have given their consent to participate. In total, two hundred and fifty-four (251) patient files were selected for the surveys but only sixty-three patients were included in the study, representing a participation rate of 25.10%. More than half of the patients, or 53.81%, lived outside the city of Zinder. The sex ratio was 1.54. The median age is 41 years old. Housewives represented 46.62%. The majority of those lost to follow-up (PD) were not educated (62.96%). Married people accounted for 56.64%.Of the 63 patients surveyed, 39.68% did not benefit from counseling and 22.22% denied their serological status. However, 19.05% of respondents had not shared their status with those close to them. More than half 57.14% were without support from those around them. Among the patients surveyed, 41.26% (n=26) presented psychological disorders including, among others, depressive disorders (17.46%), sleep disorders (11.11%), anxiety disorders (07.93 %).Conclusion: It is important to take a patient-centered approach with a focus on mental health specialists.
