Description
Résumé:Entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs) have become essential for understanding how regions generate innovative and productive entrepreneurial activity. However, research still largely relies on static models or qualitative approaches, often overlooking the socioeconomic and demographic factors that determine a territory’s true potential. This paper proposes a quantitative framework for assessing EE efficiency by linking input factors (institutions, socioeconomic conditions, human capital, and demographics) to output indicators (entrepreneurial activity, innovation, spillovers, and the human development index). Using global subnational data and regression-based analyses, the study identifies regions with strong latent potential and highlights mismatches between existing ecosystems and their optimal achievable performance. The framework aims to inform policymakers and support organizations and other stakeholders in building more efficient and inclusive entrepreneurial environments, facilitating targeted policy interventions and practical strategies for ecosystem development.
