Résumé:There has been a longstanding debate around the disciplines of prehistory, archaeology and paleoanthropology, which are of the foremost importance when it comes to the interpretation of the origin(s) of mankind. These disciplines represent a very controversial field for they develop according to both scientific data and speculative theories.When it comes to the African continent, ignorance and prejudice often complicate the debate, though Cheikh Anta Diop contributed a lot to reestablish some factual elements of truth. However, archaeology is still at its beginnings in Africa ; its development will help fully assert the part of the African continent in the evolution of mankind.
