| Summary: | Football is now a global phenomenon and in our modern world it constitutes a new form of belonging, as it is a means of bringing together people of different races and human communities which have long been antagonistic. It also serves as a tool to measure the power of countries and the efficiency of political and ideological systems in competition for world leadership. It involves views and strategies aiming at building an image of a football team – a country – according to prevailing interests and proposed results. However the emergence, in the field of football, of young Third World nations, particularly from Africa and the Middle-East region, upsets the established hierarchy of nations and produces as a consequence an awareness of the possibilities of getting rid of all forms of neo-domination.With football, African countries find a way of asserting and repositioning themselves on the world grid. However, for a sound practice of this sport, adequate infrastructures and sound management are needed. It is also necessary to put a stop to the drain of promising players and to raise moral standards. |
