الملخص:Through a form of writing closely intertwined with theatre, press cartoons, dance and music, journalist and Ganda clan leader Grace Ssemakula Musoke revisited the history of Uganda. Publishing in his own newspaper and in a book from the late 1970s through the 1990s, Ssemakula created parallels between past and present events that resulted in the development of a cyclical vision of history. In this vision, the historian’s mission is to peel back multiple layers of lies and deception. Through his powerful rhetoric, he uncovers “truths” that need to be disseminated in order for Ugandans, and particularly Baganda, to “wake up” and break the cycle that has kept them on the margins of Uganda’s political history. Ssemakula produced historical narratives to conjure a political community, and this production is a reflection of particular circumstances : the fall of Idi Amin in 1979, and the restauration of the Kingdom of Buganda in 1993.
