Résumé:The Simplification Omnibus Package presented by the European Commission on 26 February 2025 is intended to simplify the European Green Deal and strengthen the EU’s competitiveness. The presentation of the main measures of the Simplification Omnibus Package concerning the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the European Due Diligence shows that the expectations placed on companies are effectively simplified, if not largely eliminated. If environmental degradation has no effect on the competitiveness of companies and the productivity of the economy, the removal of environmental protection measures is undoubtedly an avenue to be explored in order to strengthen the competitiveness of companies. If this is not the case, the literature on public management can be used to try to understand the factors behind the increase in complexity and to assess possible action to promote administrative simplification in the interests of competitiveness.
