| Crynodeb: | The Philadelphia inscription CIG, 3436 (OGIS, 526; IGR, IV, 1651; TAM, V, 3, 1871) has attracted very little interest. Quoted in a very fleeting way, it did not receive any substantial commentary. The epigraphy of the province of Africa offers a parallel that sheds light on one of the difficulties of the text, the mention of an adiutor procuratorum regionis Philadelphenae. This is the procurator who, in Philadelphia, directed a domanial district and operated under the authority of the procurators based in Ephesus—one being a Roman knight, the other an imperial freedman. The same administrative structure is found in the Aga Bey Köyü petition, originating from the same region. |
