Beskrivelse
Summary:This article shows how digital communication is becoming professionalized at the Rassemblement National as the organization becomes institutionalized. From a relational perspective, it first invites us to contextualize the Front’s use of the web in a space of media possibilities that is increasingly open to the visibility of the organization’s spokespersons, making it paradoxical that the far right is circumventing the barriers to journalistic entry through digital means. Secondly, it looks at the specialization of communications departments, the growing importance of online platforms in the division of campaign work and the opening of dedicated training spaces as evidence of a contemporary process of professionalization of the RN’s 2.0 politics. It is based on first-hand qualitative data (semi-directive interviews with executives, activists, journalists from press departments, observations of training courses and major party events) and second-hand data such as newsletter archives.
