| Περίληψη: | Among the most important effects of the current impact of AI technologies on images and visual culture is the profound reorganization of the links between images and words, between the visible and the sayable: what can be seen and what can be said. The article analyzes the causes and implications of this reorganization, highlighting the fact that language is currently becoming a new medium for the production and modification of images, and that prompts can be seen as new speech acts and as a form of “operative ekphrasis” and “remediation” of visual media and their history. The article also highlights the fundamental role played by the “latent spaces” of generative AI models (both text-to-image and text-to-video), and concludes by formulating the hypothesis that they can be considered as a new form of historical a priori. |
