| Résumé: | This article explores the institutionalization efforts of social responsibility within higher education institutions, based on a qualitative study conducted with 14 French universities and grandes écoles labeled DD&RS. Through content analysis of interviews, this research reveals the dynamic nature of the institutional work required for effective USR integration, encompassing structural, conceptual, operational, relational, emotional, and extra-institutional dimensions. The study highlights the pivotal role of relational and emotional work in overcoming resistance to change, as well as the importance of extra-institutional work in enhancing the visibility of social responsibility initiatives.
