| الملخص: | Two decades apart, the Jussieu Campus was the site of mobilizations against the risks posed by the presence of asbestos in the university’s buildings. Led by two generations of activists, these movements strongly differ in how they defined the problem, the alliances formed, and the methods of action deployed. In the 1970s, the Jussieu Asbestos Collective teamed up with trade unions to co-produce critical knowledge as part of a fight against asbestos industry players. In the 1990s, the Jussieu Anti-Asbestos Committee positioned the mineral within a broader series of public health scandals. It developed expertise on the widespread presence of asbestos in the environment and became a direct interlocutor with the authorities. While in the 1970s the Collective did not manage to influence the first series of regulatory measures adopted, the configuration of the 1990s allowed the Committee to co-define public policies on prevention. |
