Descrição
Resumo:Organized in conjunction with three associations—the French Farmers’ Seed Network (RSP), ATD Fourth World, and Affreux, sales et méchantes—this round-table discussion highlights the way in which knowledge derived from various experiences (whether of poverty, mental health problems, or peasantry) is often discredited and not taken into account in the design and implementation of public policies and research. What should we call this knowledge? How is it constructed? How is it recognized and mobilized in participatory research, in order to refine scientific understanding of these experiences? The examples described highlight the social processes by which experiential knowledge is both recognized and sidelined, as well as the contribution this recognition makes to people, practices, scientific knowledge, and public policy.
