Résumé:Photography has been constantly evolving since its introduction in 1839. Since the beginning of the 2020s, the production of images from generative AI models using a simple description represents an even more serious threat to photographic equipment manufacturers than the ever-present risk that one day smartphones will replace definitively cameras. Will algorithms go so far as to cause the disappearance of the act of taking a picture? With countless innovations in the AI sector still underway in 2024, their impact on the photographic sector is still a young field of study, which we propose to analyze in more detail in this article. Generative AI, despite its immaturity, may threaten certain image professions, but also represents an artistic potential in the hybridization of visual techniques. Algorithms are also being used to automate the analysis of scientific and heritage imagery. JEL Codes: L630, N72, O320, 0330
