Sumari:In Chroniques de la fin du monde and Mélanine, it is commonplace to see the media deployed in disaster management, alongside international organizations. Our research aims to explore this heuristic curiosity, by analyzing the journalistic information produced on apocalyptic catastrophes. How do the media and organizations behave in 21st-century science fiction? In the light of intertextual reading, our hypothesis takes into account the work on “pandemics in science fiction” led by Christophe Becker and Clémentine Hougue, to establish that media references in dystopias contribute to the elaboration of a new tropism of modus vivendi: “the apocalyptic drugs”; hence the psychological disasters perceptible in public opinion. In fact, where the media and political organizations raise the glass of the apocalyptic drug to manipulate opinion in times of crisis, science fiction advocates adopting a certain apocalyptic consciousness: psychological suicide, conceived as a mental vaccine against the cataclysms to come.
